Computer modders take prizes in NVIDIA's Speak Visual Contest. The contest was open to computer modders and visual artists, but most of the winners are modders. The grand prize winner blows away the competition and deserves the powerhouse computer that its creator will get. (We met the Austin Modders at Maker Faire Austin - they had some great stuff on display.)Scroll down, all the way down, to see Instructables user whatsisface's entry that won him a couple books.UPDATE: Another Instructables user, nav.sparx, won a BFG GeForce GTX 260 OC MAXCORE graphics card. Nice! Link

Hello I am looking for a solution to self teach English in Indian villages using a microprocessor based solution for audio together with a paper book. Final product should be dirt cheap ($1- $5) 2. Bilingual audio (English and a regional language) toy with buttons. I am a software engineer, can someone guide me what microprocessor or solution set for my need? Plan to develop it as an open source project.

I bought a Speak and Spell on Ebay for circuit bending, but alas, I fried it. It came with an expansion cartridgl. I want to pursue this circuit bending project, so (going off another schematic), I bought a Speak and Math off of Ebay. What would happen if I put the Speak and Spell cartridge in the Speak and Math?

I have a theory, that I will be able to wake up easier if someone who's voice I don't recognize tells me to. I am asking if anyone who can would record their voice saying: "It is time to wake up now" After this is recorded save it as a mp3 or wav and upload the file and post it in a comment below. Thanks!

I'm thinking about getting the wii speak accessory, but first I would like to know how long the cable is.

The Wii Speak, though kinda cheap, finally allows Wii users to talk to each other in online games, just like the 360 and PS3! .... except they didn't have to buy anything extra .... and the only game you can talk online is Animal Crossing So is it possible to some how set up the Wii Speak to allow you to talk while playing SSB Brawl, for example, while online with your friends?

As opposed to bass or tenor ones? It's gotta be at least 60%. I ask because I'm a bass talker, and supposedly we're even rarer than tenor talkers.

Much to my surprise I've been doing a fair number of media interviews lately. (TV, radio, podcast) I'm not really happy with the way that I sound. I either sound a bit scatterbrained or uncertain. I meander, give run-on sentences, finish different sentences than I start, etc. This happens even if I get the questions in advance. Usually the interviews are taped and the editors work hard to make me sound coherent, but even then my speech is full of pauses, "um"s and "ah"s. I'd like to break myself of the habit. So any hints, tips, ways to practice and/or relax more?

A "speaking piano" reciting the Proclamation of the European Environmental Criminal Court at World Venice Forum 2009. Austrian composer Peter Ablinger transferred the frequency spectrom of the childs voice to his computer controlled mechanical piano. (translated from German) Peter Ablinger: I break down this phonography, meaning a recording of something the voice, in this case -, in individual pixels, one can say. And if I have the possibility of a rendering in a fairly high resolution (and that I only get with a mechanical piano), then I in fact restore some kind of continuity. Therefore, with a little practice, or help or subtitling, we actually can hear a human voice in a piano sound. link: youtube

Hi I am new to instructables, and while I currently do not have a instructable posted (maybe soon) I noticed there are not many instructables in Spanish. I think i saw maybe one at best. There are many Spanish speaking people who do not speak English in the United States (and indeed the world over) who could benefit greatly from the wealth of information provided by this wonderful website. I speak and write fluent English and Spanish. (I also speak Swedish but I am not very good at writing it.) To get the ball rolling I am offering translation of any instructable on this site. Just send me a message and I will start doing what I do. By translating your post you will be appealing to a much wider audience, and probably get more votes! Who doesn't want that?

I'm trying to find information about preparing "tonburi" or "caviar of the field" from the seeds of the kochia plant (Kochia scoparia), and I can't find any English sources, and can't even parse the Japanese results and then translate them.

Maybe I'm just a jerk but I find it incredibly annoying when people (especially on the internet) cannot speak (write). It's like a wad of words that someone just hucked at the wall and don't make any sense at all. Educate yourselves people! You sound like morons. Why don't they see this?

Hi, my name's Oli and I am a speech therapist - aka speech pathologist in US. I am looking for a way (e.g. an app) that can determine how fast someone is speaking, in realtime. This kind of biofeedback would be really useful for many people with communication disorders where learning to speak slower can help a lot (e.g. stuttering, dysarthria). I can also see it being useful for teaching public speaking to students etc. Does anyone know of anything out there (hardware or app) that can do this? Or where I might find someone I could pay to develop this app? Many thanks, Oli

I cringe everytime someone uses the word Latino when generically speaking of Spanish-speaking people. I prefer to be called Spanish or Hispanic. Some people may disagree with me but I think that calling me a Hispanic describes my true ethnical and cultural origin. Although many people will bring the fact that the colonization of America by the Spanish conquerors was bloody and opressive, we still owe to Spain the origin of our countries. From Mexico to Patagonia and the Large Antilles, the Spanish conquistadores left their footprint in the form of language, architecture, religion, cooking, stories, art, crafts and culture. In contrast, a Latino is anyone who descends from people that speak a Romance language like: French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Romanian. By that definition, when we speak of Latin America we include countries like Brasil, Haiti, French Guyana and, Surinam. The same definition could apply to Italian-Americans, French-Americans, French-Canadians, and Cajun people.

I got this book from my aunt who teaches gaelic in cape breton, its called Everyday Gaelic by Morag Macneill, and im trying to learn it because i think my dad said hes taking my siblings and i to cape breton next year for a huge ass family reunion. The book i have teaches the basic grammar and punctuation and pronunciation, but lacks words. theres phrases, but nothing enough to keep a conversation going, just stuff that you would use if you were to be in a gaelic speaking community and needed to ask where the washroom is and stuff like that. So, (im approaching the main question now =P), i was wondering if anybody speaks fluent scots gaelic and if you do, could you maybe help me out on learning it. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and id really appreciate any help from someone who understands the language. Thanks !! =]
