A few Pictures of mine Answered

Now, I wouldn't say this is art, nor am I an artist. I just enjoy taking pictures. These are a few of my favorites. The last is noisy, I know, I just thought it was funny. Hope you like them!

I just got a new camera! It's a Canon EOS 30D.

I was looking at cameras on the internet the other day and saw one like that. I want to get one so bad.

Man, talk about my dreams. How much did you pay for it?

Um...I don't remember. It was my dad's, but I take better pictures so I "stuck my flag into it" and claimed it as my own. It's an awsome camera. I'll post some pics.

Nice, are those your pets? Sorry, but I had to ask this: What's up with that cherry sculpture/fountain?

The second pic is my dog, Mazee. The first is Chillie and Junie, my cousin's. The fourth is Maggie, my aunt's dog. The cherry was in an sculpure park in Minnasota. I think that it is the coolist one, some of the more "moddern art" sculptures there I just don't get.

Cool, they don't have sculpture parks here. Nice pets.

Whoa! Is that a trebuchet? (like the one in the PSB special ?) 1st column, third photo down.... And what the heck is the big hamster wheel for? (I could hazard a guess, I think...)

Select as Best AnswerUndo Best Answer

user

Yeah it's a trebuchet. The wheel is used to winde up the rope to power the arm, they used horses or people to turn it.

Select as Best AnswerUndo Best Answer

user

Man, I'm jealous--love to see one in action.

Thought that might be what the wheel was for ;-)

It was really good, they fired a concrete ball with kerosene soaked rags wrapped around it and then lit it, you could see it burning in mid air and then when it landed everyone went over to see the deep skorched hole it left in the ground.

Do you live around there or did you visit it. I would love to go there some time, it looks so cool.

Select as Best AnswerUndo Best Answer

user

well i live nearish to it, it takes about 45 minutes to get there by car and it is apparently the best preserved castle in england because it ever had a battle.

Here are a few of mine. Some I took while Hiking on the Appalachian Trail last year (has anyone else done any hiking on that?) and a few are from my trip to Panama with Samaritans Purse (an international relief organization).

Cool. I've hiked in various places in NC, TN, and VA. Grayson Highlands is amazing (in VA). People I know who have through-hiked (hiked the whole thing) say it's the prettiest part of the AT.

Yes, the dew is a great touch. I took the picture in the morning on the Atlantic Coast. When I took it I was thinking it was just a snapshot, because I was in a bit of a rush. Turns out it was one of my favorites!

Beautiful flower, the water droplets really make it. Just goes to show most folk scan produce a work of art with a good eye and a camera.

So I would say you are a very good artist!

Coincidentally, I snapped this yesterday, great minds think alike...

Wow, Chris, that is a good photo! What camera do you have?

Select as Best AnswerUndo Best Answer

user
Chris Bilton (author)Bran2007-07-16

Thanks, its nothing special, a cheapo Fujifilm A202 with 2.0 Mega Pixels - see pic - whatever that means, I'm afraid I'm not very tecy, (apparently, my daughters cell phone has more of those pesky pixels than my camera) It's quite a bulky thing too but I'm used to it now, I just point and shoot. I do take lots of pics though, so you are bound to get something not bad eventually. I'm told the lens is very good, I suppose that's the key, basically all cameras are a box with a hole in it, you pay for the lens and the rest are extras, this has no extras. The photos was taken on a trip down the local canal, there is a weir/waterfall at the end - see pic - we moored up before going that far, weirs and barges don't mix well!

nice picture of the waterfall. it reminds me of the fishing trip i took on the new river (not that that looks anything like where i was at on the new river). if i go back this summer, im going to have to take my camera. im just afraid of it getting wet (i fall alot when im wading).

Take a cheap camera with you, if it gets wet it don't matter... if the picture is spectacular the quality becomes secondary to the subject...just don't drown!!
