AA to USB charger Answered

Can someone provide me with a schematic for a AA-5v USB charger, either using 2xAA or 4xAA, using parts available on ebay UK (and no programmable chips), much like the mintyBoost, but the chip isn't available in the UK.

I've used a product from bodhi labs to build a USB charger if you don't mind a bit of soldering.

This will set you back about 10 US dollars. Not sure about the UK shipping though.

Yes, I relise this, but that's not what I asked. I want to know how I can make a cheap homemade AA powered USB charger using 2, 3, or 4 AAs (I would have though 4 would be easiest as it will give most current and you can just use a voltage regulator.
