Adding an 1/8 stereo output to a single speaker. How? Answered

I have a mono speaker record player I bought at Sears in 2005. I'm looking to add a 1/8 inch jack so I can hook it up to a surround sound system. How could I do this?

In the photos the red and green wires are connected to the speaker.

I'd be inclined to slave a small buffer amp to the output stage, making sure to guarantee that the output range doesn't exceed the input specs for the surround sound system.
