Well the trailer makes it look like the usual pile of- still it might qualify as "mindless entertainment", but I can't see it doing much more than that.

It IS kind of hard to tell from just a trailer though I suppose. . .

Not really, the trailer is designed to sum up the appeal of the film, so it will tend to use:
The best explosions
The better one-liners
The nicest action sequences
The nice body
If these are reasons to go see it, this will be what it will be like for the most part. Other trailers may be deceptive (e.g. they consist of all the good content, so a person is disappointed in the rest of the film) but for this type of trailer, you generally get this type of film.

Yeah, I've seen a number of this type of film, none of which I can remember the names of (and google searches don't seem to be helping much either).

Oh wait,   I DO remember this one (and remember commenting to my wife after we saw it that the trailer gave away the entire movie, and there wasn't much left to see)  The Abyss

Yeah that's never good. But did you see posters / a trailer for Bandslam? See under the "Marketing" section.

So, is/was that a good movie?  Certain "subjects" don't really leap out at me and help me want to see them.  This is one of them (although there is that one scene that IS funny  start by moving a strand of hair out of her face....so he backhands her cap off  :-)

The point about that (I thought no-way and didn't give it another consideration) was that it reviewed well but the promotional material was awful. And notably bad too, being as I came across it in a media news article on the subject.

I just hope it isn't an "action film, just for the action".

I'm torn, on the one hand the frankly brilliant Robert Downey Jr, on the other, mister hit and miss, Guy Ritchie. The inappropriate tech in the commercials is not appealing. Think I'll wait and see.

Yes, I might find someone that is into S.H. and see if they like it first . . .
