Amazing microscopic artwork. Answered

I saw this microscope slide on ebay. It went for almost £80, but I grabbed the images because they are simply amazing - the slide's maker has spent what are probably hours or days arranging microscopic diatoms into the shape of a three-masted galleon, complete with sailors and a figure-head.

Anybody care to reproduce it?

How on earth do you work with such small particles? It looks pretty awesome though. One thing though, if you buy this, what do you use it for? You can't really put it on your mantel piece so every one who comes to your house can look at it can you? Hmm, I guess you could of course keep it under a microscope on your mantelpiece.

Perhaps they had access to the equiptment used for ICSI (Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection). But it would still require a lot of patience.
