I just ordered my tickets. Deal on getting a new subscription to MAKE magazine and a day ticket. There is a tacked on $1 processing fee and $2.50 mailing fee *sigh* but $5 discount code or $15 discount for the two day pass. I hope to be there both days with the youngin. We'll have to meet up at the Faire and find the other iblers. Too bad you couldn't get to the last HOPE this weekend.
Yeah, my panic was kind of for naught as far as the HOPE thing was concerned, but they would have asked me to give up the Friday before (that I'd asked for vacation) and the Monday after..... I am really hoping I can find my way there and be there on the Sat. of the weekend, if nothing else. I'd hate to pay $55 twice just to get there and back home again (train fare). . .
I'm hoping to go saturday, but may have to settle for Sunday. If I do end up going Saturday, it will be from about 9-4. My dad and Step-mom would be going out for her birthday that night, so I would have to leave pretty early. I don't know about going to Sunday, but my step-mom insists.(It's her birthday) Anyway, I'll most likely be wearing the robot.
PS: I hope to be either wearing my robot shirt, or the Maker Faire shirt I got from their store online, from a past Faire (that I was not in attendance at).
My Ticket is on it's way :-) Now, my wife wants someone to ride with me (she is even asked her sister and a few of her lady friends....she is so afraid I might fall asleep driving there. . .
Sounds like a party.....road trip..... btw, driving around the Hall of Science is pretty tricky, have a GPS or street maps of the neighborhood. It is on the site of the old Worlds Fair grounds, The Mets Shea Stadium, Flushing Meadows park and the Tennis Center, bounded by a maze of highways that crisscross each other.
If it isn't TOO steep it should be ok......are you familiar then with the area? My wife, Ellen needs some reassurance that Queens is not the crime capitol of the world (and I will end up being the only one there to get mugged). So if you have anything that could reassure her, I will pass it along. Thanks.
1. Don't look up and stare at the pretty tall buildings. 2. I think the crime capitol of the world is Juarez, Mexico. 3. There are too many people around and in broad daylight you are not likely to get mugged....wait a minute, what am I talking about....it should be fairly safe.
Yeah, now to convince the wife....I mean, I walked the length (well about 2/3's of it) of Manhattan by myself, how bad could it be? :-) She is afraid that Queens is unsafe....and I told her, sure, they picked the least safe place in the world to gather a lot of people together to mug one another.....*sigh*
http://makerfaire.com/newyork/2010/callformakers/ Maybe you'll get to New York City after all.

If a mugger doesn't feel safe going to work everyday, where is he going to go?
