Arduino file extension Answered

I haven't been using Arduino for a while but there is something going on with the file extensions. When i rename and save a file the extension gets changed and it can't be opened again. Just adding .pde or .ino doesn't do it. I am using .022 and 1.0.5 for some applications so i think going between them is causing the problem. Is it possible to find a common file name or remove the extension preferences so i can retrieve my sketch.

You shouldn't be renaming the files. Just open them up in 1.0 and save them as a 1.0 file.

What if i wanted blink1 and blink2, is it not appropriate to rename them to that title to keep seperate.

Don't rename them by clicking on the file. Open the file in the IDE and then Save As to save it as a differnt name.

Rigth click, Open With, Notepad. Save As a notepad. Then edit the extension to what you want. This should allow the IDE to open it.
