Audio over rj11 Answered

I was wondering if I can have a audio input on a rj11 so I can run audio off my house's phone lines. We have VOIP now and don't use the phone lines, so can I still do that?

Well, it's twisted-pair, which makes it at least semi-noise-resistant.... but it's not particularly low-resistance, so I'd suggest buffer amplifiers (at least) at each point where you plan on installing speakers. That would also dodge the question of how many speakers your main amp can drive.

Just make sure your wiring is COMPLETELY disconnected from telco's lines -- for your own safety and for everyone else's.

and remember it may be the case in some jurisdictions that the phone wiring in your house is the property of the phone company -- and they can lay upon thee great vengeance.
