Auto-tune on the PC? Answered

I've been looking and searching for some sort of free auto-tune program for the PC, and so far have turned up confusing .dll files that I can't find in my my Reaver or FL Studio programs.

Sorry if this was asked before.

Actually I just got done doing just what you're asking yesterday.  How to make auto tune on the free.

And it IS possible.

First free program you'll need is audacity, get the latest beta release

Download here

Once installed head over to gvst to get their free VST plugin for audacity:

Download here

Now you have to configure it, this youtube video while seriously annoying goes over how to use the gvst: GSnap plugin

Annoying video, but still useful to give you a rough intro

There are implementations, but I don't know of any which are free.

Then again, pro-level digital audio workstation software is surprisingly affordable. I sprang for the full-blown edition of Sonar, which includes that functionality along with most of a studio's worth of processing (just add good quality I/O). If you decide to go that way, one trick to be aware of is that getting one of their more basic products and upgrading can be cheaper than jumping direct to the top-of-the-line package.
