Bell linked to cell phone Answered

I have this school bell in my shop that is hooked up to my land line. I could always hear the phone ring. I have not had a line for years now. Is there a way to connect my smartphone to the bell? I would just want it to ring if I get a text or call.

I agree Catlinsdad has the easiest solution...but in looking for other solutions I ran into DTMF decoders might be a cool gadget to try

Also meant to ask, how does the existing phone hook up to the bell?

You can buy cheap gadgets that flash an LED when a mobile rings nearby - maybe you could remove the LED and use the connections to trigger a relay?

Quick way is to get one of the new electronic/cordless regular desk phones with the link to cell phone capability and rig that up to ring the bell. Otherwise, you might need to rig up an arduino with a bluetooth shield to link your cellphone when it gets a call. Good luck.
