Epoxy the thing. If you want simpler, hot glue. If you want even simpler, rubber band. If you want ever more simpler, tape. If you want inexplicably simple, buy another lighter!

Grammar correction, 4th sentence. "ever more simple"

I would recommend gluing the lock-tab/slide/thing in place, that should hold and you won't have to worry about it not working if you remove it completely.

Umm Haven't encountered them but take the top off without losing any bits and remove the little tabs that make it lock in the slot...

. Yep. . I haven't seen a child-proof lighter in years, but that's what we used to do. I taught my daughter how to safely use a "regular" lighter, so we didn't need the lock.

ouch, now bic has been making mandatory child locks. =-(

they're just really annoying, but aren't child proof. it's a strip of metal accross the flint wheel...

I hate those! They're sooo inconvenient. I just gave each of my kids Zippos. I figure when I tell them to burn something, I don't want any excuses!

"tell them to burn things" "just give them zippos"

lol, even that argument is hard to win Eventually your parents ask you if your smoking and then you say to drop it and then a few minutes later, you realized you didn't make any progress

jeez, i don't know what kind of parents you have, but when i camp, i actually use the lighter for fire.

I haven't had a lighter in the house (not counting the charcoal/candle lighter) since I quit smoking in 2002.

. I think he meant:
ginger: ... having a bright orange-brown color; "a man with gingery hair and bright blue eyes"; "a ginger kitten" - http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
. But it's hard to tell for sure.
.
. "South Park" had an episode, "Ginger Kids," that you might find humorous

Well, I have heard other meanings for the slang term too :-)

But, no it really was a reddish tinted blond color, which deepened as I aged, and when I stopped spending much time in the sun, it went as dark as it is now.
I will have to wait til I get home to view the video, since THIS computer has no sound.....and for other reasons ;-)

i have no idea what you thought i meant but... a ginger kid is just someone with "strawberry blond" hair, freckles, and fairly pale skin...

"Burn Stuff"- We had some trees fall (the kids are cleaning it up) and we have a wood stove. (Didn't want you to think I sent them around randomly burning things!) I haven't been in camping nearly a year, but the kids go pretty often. There's a pond about a mile from here, and they just have a cookout and fish all night. It's not hardcore camping, but it's a chance to get away.

Yeah I have a butane charcoal grill lighter with a really complex locking mechanism on it.....it certainly keeps my wife from burning the house down I guess :-)

Remove the spring that pushes the lock "up" into the safety position. If lock won't stay in safety position, it will not lock.
