Blue snowball mic and windows 7? Answered

Alright, so today I received my new new Blue Snowball only to find it is incompatible with windows 7, or at least that's what I thought.

After searching through the web for a fair few hours I found that many people had got their mic working with windows 7 yet there was no driver or firmware update available to download.
I managed to find a firmware update although this stopped part way through demanding administrator rights which I gave it but it still wouldn't work :L
I'm using the new macbook pro with retina display if that helps with motherboard compatibility.

If anybody has a blue snowball I would really appreciate a download link to the driver you are using

Thanks in advance

Try following this set of instructions.  You'll want to read the whole thing, but the most relevant information is under the "How to Change the Default Recording Device" heading.
Select the USB mic, or Snowball Mic (it might be named something else) as the default device.

I know how to set the default audio device, my problem is my snowball isn't showing in that menu.

Each time I delete the driver and replug the snowball still reports that the driver failed to install, therefore it can't be shown in the sound settings page.

Thanks for having a go though, much appreciated :)

I'm having the same trouble. Were you able to find a solution, by any chance?

Make sure the USB that goes into the mic isn't upside down.
