The processor looks like it is more than capable enough to generate the signals used to control two stepper motors. The microprocessor outputs will be capable of driving the inputs to the L298. If you know how to write the software for the PIC and you understand the drive signals you need to generate with it and how to interface the PIC to the H bridge, you should be fine.

Thanks! I don't fully understand how to program PICs yet, most tutorials are for different PIC (PIC18F452) so I'm trying to adapt it to the 1320
