# Can anybody give me ideas on my new knex ball tower?? Answered

I am having trouble making a ball tower with a squiggle path. If you dont know what I mean, go to Youtube and I beleve the video is called knex ball machine operation schism. How do you make the path during the first run? Also Darth trainman, how on earth did you even start making the xXxXx with no instructions? I want to know how you do it please. Sorry if Im being bossy. Whoever helps me, thanks!

Here are two ways I have tried that I've found to be particularly successful: 1) Build one of the many ball machines that has instructions in some way, shape, or form, make sure it works, and then start fiddling around with it. Maybe build the chain higher, turn a half loop into a 1.5 loop, take a classic spiral and add another 360 degrees, put on another path separator and create a new path of entirely your own idea, take a freefall drop and turn it into a pathing spiral, etc. 2) Practice putting different kinds of elements together, like a basic path into a classic spiral into a loop, a spiral bowl into a ferris wheel into another random element, etc. Then, try to build your ball tower around that, adding any extra items you want to have later. Try those options. But like everybody else said (and I say, too), you should start out small, and then gradually get to the big stuff.

This one gives the information how to design a ball tower.

After that, it's good to take a look at the lifts.

Just try building some, and choose the ones that you want to use, and put them into the structure!

Last part, and most fun: the elements! Every path needs elements. Here's the link:

If you want more ideas, build some ball machines that other people have made, before making your own.

Good luck!

Well, you should start off small and gradually get bigger. That's what I did. I've been building ball machines for around a year now and I have some videos of them on my YouTube channel: (http://www.youtube.com/user/phrasmotica?feature=moby.

If you want to have a look at some innovative elements, then you should look at 39Shadowman's channel, because his machine 'Wipe Out' has four different lift systems.

Oh, and another tip: be patient. Ball machines take a long time if they are complex but will not disappoint you. You could also look at Darth Trainman's
'How To Make A Ball Machine' and 'The Ultimate Guide To Knex Ball Machine Elements'.

Good luck in the future!

I have made Tombucky's ball machines, nice job! I think the problem with me is I'm trying to survive without tubing altogether.

TraIman has made a guide on how to make something like op' shism; https://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-A-Ball-Machine!/

Also check out this guide on cool elements; https://www.instructables.com/id/The-Ultimate-Guide-to-Knex-Ball-Machine-Elements/

But if you haven't made anything like this before, don't make something big. I tried that about 15 times and everytime I gave up before the first path was finished. Start with something small instead, like tombuckey's neat little ball machine.

also try making some smaller ball machines made by other people. and get all the things like tubing and tabbed connectors! because im getting some because its easier to make machines with these thing !!! hope this helps!!

well first start off small then get bigger and more complex. also take a look at darth trainmans guides for how to make a ball machine and his other guide on elements. these two guides helped me lots! also that squiggle path i would know how to make it just i dont have those pieces but im buying some off ebay so when i get it ill post a instructable for you
