Can someone help me with an idea? Answered

I want to make one of the discs from Tron (the discs that they throw). I thought about buying one of the toy versions but they don't really look like what is in the movie. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make it? Thanks

Buy a toy model and put el wire in the clear part.

One technique that has reportedly been used to mock up lightsabers is to cover the rod representing the beam with one of the high-intensity reflective films, then hit it with a spotlight so it would bounce light back at the audience. Not sure how well that would work for this. (For reference, see the first few items found by typing "3M reflective bicycle" into the Instructables search box.)

Another approach, of course, would be the old standby of fluorescent paints and UV lamps.

See uniqueutopia's answer - very hard work (or film special effects)

Try the third link. Google is always your friend.

I looked them up with google. The third link didn't give much info.

You're right, now. Google changes the search results (or the algorithm is not entirely deterministic). Sorry. Here's the result I was thinking of: http://tron.wikibruce.com/DIY#Is_this_how_the_new_disks_were_made.
