Can someone please explain to me what a Axial Inductor do? Answered

Axial Inductor-
i have a couple of these things, but have no idea what they do. 
they look like a resistor. 

can someone tell me what are they used for.

it looks just like this, but a couple different color lines on it.

Google "inductor". Axial is just the shape of the part. It means it has leads coming out each end rather that both coming out one end.
