i need to capture stills from a .mov file
ALT-PrntScrn is an easy way to do it, you have to crop it out of the player's window or crop the title bar out. Otherwise you'd need video editing software.

the bar is over the main part of the image....and recomended freeware video editing stuffs?
It's not in my normal-size Quicktime window (?). See if these are any use:https://www.instructables.com/community/What-is-the-best-FREE-video-editing-software-and-w/https://www.instructables.com/community/Video-Editing-Software/L
Well, the fastest and a free way would be to play the movie in fullscreen, and pause it where you want the still and use a screenshot tool. That will work because I've done it myself. Hope I helped!
yes, but the only program i could find was quicktime, and its fullscreen view has an annoying little bar i can't remove...(or atleast figure out how to hide it)
Quicktime (mov format) pro can output stills from a video. Not sure if the basic version can.
