Complete novice at electronics but want to make this instructable, which classes should I take? Answered

Hi, I'm am a total beginner at electronics, really. I have never soldered a wire in my life and can't read wiring plans for my life. I desperately want to complete Mikeasaurus's instructable on the air conditioned shirt for a father's day gift, any ideas of which instructables classes to take? or any other resources?

Here is his instructable btw, if you want to see the level of difficulty or want to have a better idea of what I am talking about: https://www.instructables.com/id/air-conditioned-shirt/

've had a good experience with instructables questions system, so I'm comfortable asking this one, thanks community :)

You should give the Electronics Class a try, at the very least do lessons 1-3 to cover the basics, but I'd recommend completing the whole thing to expand your knowledge, it will no doubt come in handy for future I'bles.

The soldering lesson of the Electronics Class is also available purely as an Instructable.

Another popular soldering I'ble by noahw is available here.

Hope this helps :-)

Wiring plans = schematics?

What are you trying to read that's so hard? Problems with remembering/imagining the components?

Use screw connectors. Simple and easy to use, no need for a soldering iron. I use them a TON! :)

Thanks for your reply, and yes I think it's actually the schematics, and also imagining the layout of the components beyond the simple diagram. In other words, it's quite difficult for me to imagine how it "plays" out in front of me.

As for the screw connectors, I'll have to give those a try :)
