Control a servo without programming Answered

Has anyone seen this project? http://makeprojects.com/Project/Control-a-Servo-Motor-Without-Programming/990/1 I am trying to do it, but I don't see where to put the potentiometer in the circuit. Although I have built a few kits I am pretty inexperienced with circuits. Am I missing something? I have built most of the circuit on a breadboard. I will post a picture when I am done.

I decided to bypass the control board completely, and I wired the power directly into the motor.

Can you please explain how to connect the motors directly to power?
My project requires manual control of the servos and I can't find a tutorial that does not involve using MCUs.

remove the electronics board, remove pot, remove stops that stop the servo rotating more than the pot can travel, connect wires to motor....
