I'm playing softball this year and i don't have a glove but i don't know what to buy.
When trying gloves grab a softball off the shelf and see if it fits comfortably in the pocket. Most baseball gloves will work fine for softball, especially if it's not ultra-competitive. Just find a glove that fits your hand and that can close on a softball regardless of what it says its for.

I don't know... can you catch a softball like you can catch a baseball? (have you tried it?) L
The only difference between a baseball glove and a softball glove is that a softball glove is bigger. So if you don't have a glove, get one for softball. There are many places that sell used sports equipment (if cost is a factor).
