DC P.M. motor help Answered

Went to the scrapyard and pulled out the motor that runs a treadmill... thinking the treadmill plugs into the wall I thought the motor was going to be AC...WRONG, it a DC P.M.
I want to build a home made disc sander and was wondering if it possible to make this motor run from the wall outlet?
There was a small circuit board next to the motor but I didnt grab it since I had disconnected all the wires from it.
BTW, Im completely clueless to electrical stuff so be gentle with me.

Thats a close to 2kW motor - for a SANDER ?

steve, im ignorant to electricity...in fact im gonna go pick up the electronics for dummies and read it...
So, i take it you think this motor even if I got it working is a little overkill?
What else could I use this for? Maybe I will just try to sell it on Craigslist or Ebay.

Thanks

Are you making a fixed disc sander, and not a hand-portable ? How big is the disc ?

Going back to the scrapyard and haggling for the control electronics would probably be your easiest/quickest/cheapest route to get it running on mains.

The guy that runs the place told me to grab it but Im clueless on how to hook everything back up.
I will go on tuesday and grab the two circuit boards that were next to the motors.
Hopefully thats all I need cauz im not also grabbing the control panels that go with the treadmills...LOL

Thanks for the input jay.
