Device to get rid of pesky pigeons on balcony? Answered

Nothing that would permanently harm the pigeons (although it is tempting), but something that would scare the bejesus out of them. Maybe a motion sensor that would swing something to scare them.... maybe it woud play a predator sound when they got too close... the possibilities are endless. Please help!

if you're ever in downtown knoxville TN (market square to be exact)..you'll hear two completely disconcerting sounds....one is a VERY large propane cannon that goes off at random intervals (sounds like a civil war black powder cannon) and then the weirdest bird call you've ever heard...it's the call of some kind of raptor (not sure which)...but if you've never heard it...and you've never gotten the explanation that it's coming from a speaker on top of one of the buildings it's pretty creepy

That thing would also take care of pesky neighbors, a few dogs, and an accidental car or two!

try putting a piece of wood with nails in it and placing that on the window sill, have the nails facing upwards so that when the pidgeons land on it it wont harm them, but it will deterre them away from the window sill, the nails dont need to bee that big if you dont want to see them, just apply it to your window sill with a bit of adisive glue

This keeps birds out of my friend's vineyard. It's called the Bird-X Scare-Eye Balloon and they are $10.00.

Theys really about 8$. Personal i have a bit of a mean streak for birds, call it a prevenative vedetta. so im more of a fan of shock treatment for the little monsters. I bet those things would make great targets for long range trap shooting.

Where I work we had this problem for a few years and different things were tried with varying success. I think the second best thing we used was a basic toy slinky attached to the edges of the roof/gutters where they liked to sit and poo on people. The best thing we tried and it did work was to get a few hawks from the wildlife department and get them to nest in the area. Nature works the best!

My uncle has a speaker set up on his porch that plays the sound of a hawk. It works really well.

Our local civic buildings have rows of three-inch bristles along the window sills.

I know you don't want to harm them (for the sake of harming them) but there are some really decent recipes out there for Pigeon Pie

Are you in the city limits are are there no neighbors near by? If out in the country without close neighbors, one could temorarily set up a large outdoor speaker that plays the recorded sound of a shotgun at random times. Our local mall does this over the summer to keep the crow and sea gull population from overrunning the parking lots on the side that faces the park.

Rubber snake? Mechanical squawking owl? Propane noisemaker (that's what they use here at the airport)?
