Do you make other people's projects? Answered

A question from Plasmana set me wondering -

Do you follow other peoples' Instructables?

Personally, the answer is mainly "no" (sorry Plasmana).

I keep meaning to, I just never seem to have time to...

I want to make a Kelvin's Thunderstorm, a VdG, Plasmana's shocker, a coilgun, a tiny robot, a plushie. I did make a vacuum cannon, but before I saw this site.

What have you made from other peoples' projects?

What do you plan to make?

I have made quite a few, just yesterday I was making some of canida's plasticine and even when I don't construct a whole project I do use the helpful little tips and information people give along the way.

I've made quite a few of yours, but mostly I have a long list that I keep for that magical day when I have a clean shop, no projects, and a rainy day.

Oh, hark at her!

That sounds ... snobbish. What's wrong with other peoples' guns?

We need a "Built it!" button, then you can see how many people actually made your Insructable in its stats.

I think the idea has been raised before. You'd be better-off passing the idea on to Rachel, though, since she does a lot of the nut-and-bolts behind the scenes stuff.

I think,

I believe this idea has come up multiple times as well. I just don't know if any of the crew have been informed.

I've only made a few. In fact, I don't think I have made any this year...

I build a few projects every once and while, however I view hundreds of projects and gain lots of ideas from them, and then when I build some thing I find that I'm incorporating lots of smaller parts of other people projects into my final item.. (( And I do build lots of the food related projects, I'd have to say I use it more then allrecipes.com but again they neglect to show you how to build the grill ))

I've made a few, I would like to make more if I had the time (or skill).

skill comes from practice, practice from doing...years ago, when I was learning electronics, I remade many a project before getting it right :-)

Preach it Brother Goodhart, skill only comes from doing.

:-) I have enjoyed the learning process (most of the time) and so I wouldn't trade it in for "instant learning, in a pill" for anything. It lasts longer this way :-)

Personally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught.

I completely agree with this dude, saying as Instructables shows you how to do things.

Yes, and life can have some cruel lessons at times, so the method of teaching is not always enjoyable for sure :-)

I also have been trying to finish up alto of Instructables, such as a ghillie suit, animatronic spider, (actually the real Instructable was Simple Animatronics,) 2 knife instructables, and some mods for things. I also haven't got around to doing airsoft claymores. Mainly, i've just done cooking things.

I've made bumpus' Altoid tin guitar, with help from another instructable on the guitars; and I've made some "vintage" jeans using threadbanger's methods.... Think that's it.

I've only made a few. I've cooked a few of the dishes on here, I've made pasties, etc. But nothing major. I have too many ideas of my own that need to be finished. :P
