Does anyone know what causes this effect in a copper pipe? Answered

When you view light through a copper pipe you see all these neat rings I wondered if anybody knew why.

Its the same thing that happens when you reflect one mirror off another mirror, you know, face to face, only because the tube is circular its circles reflecting. What is really cool is to shine a little pen laser down it and off the side.
If it's your picture, nice job on it.

My guess is it's the internal reflections of whatever you're looking at -- each ring is exactly the same width as the diameter of the end 'picture'. since you're looking at a gradient it is opposite after each reflection...or I could be out to lunch!
