Does cold harm lithium batteries? Answered

I know that Nicad batteries can be damaged from being left in the car in sub freezing temperatures.  Is this also true of lithium batteries?  I'm in a northern climate where we experience below zero temperatures so I need to know if I have to keep bringing my lithium battery packs inside every time I park the car.

They won't charge when they are below 32 degrees F. But storing them in cold temps slows the chemical reaction inside so they loose less of there charge over time. Don't know if sub zero temps could damage them but i would suspect it could.

All batteries are affected by temperature.
The trick is combining your needs with the batteries ability.

Josehf could you please elaborate on that? What batteries would select for what conditions?
