Elementeo Chemistry Card Game Answered

Picture of
14-year-old Anshul Samar has created his own science-based fantasy card combat game Elementeo. Check out the interview with him below.

Elementeo is a strategic battle game where you use your elements across the battlefield in reducing opponent's electrons to zero. You do that by harnessing the strength and moving properties of the elements and compounds, and by using their reactionary powers. For example, Oxygen can rust any neighboring metal or Copper Conductor can shock any metals and send them back to the deck.

You two seem to try and be random, it's kinda creepy, you know like when you see the little dogs with big eyes and someone put shoes on them, they're almost as creepy as the time your birthday clown happened to be your mothers secret lover, when you found out the way you did you became so afraid of being boned by a clown you came here to attempt to quell your fears by getting in random competitions and shooting monkey faeces at people, sadly one day the monkey faeces gun backfired and that's the story of how you lost and eye, and ear and a testicle.

Nothing is truely random anyways. A tossed coin follows a route specified by the strength of the toss, the wind currents, the difference between the weights of either side of the coin. There is no going back once launched. And that coin no longer buys what it once did, so if there is a relationship at all being demonstrated, no matter how remote, the psuedorandomness becomes a directed path, whether directed by the laws of "nature (or God if you will)" directed by a person or other sentient being. Random isn't what random is. ;-)

A bit hard to accept. But it seems cool. ANd I guess It's pretty educational. I Guess, since These past years have seen a ton of card games and merchandise (Yu-Gi-Oh, those other ones and Pokemon cards were back for a while) Its a bit common. I used to have undersea cards. Whoever had a killer whale won cuz it ate everything. Nice concept though

Seems to me that if kids (or adults) can memorize the esoteric rules and card interactions in a game like Magic, they ought to be able to memorize somewhat more REAL rules associated with elements. The trouble comes when you need to know exactly where the line is between fact and fiction. ("Oxygen breathes life into one Halogen" ?)

Sounds a bit like what I call "Tom Swift Science", were known scientific principles are stretched well beyond the point where they'd apply. This is as opposed to "Star Trek Science", which invents brand-new science with little real basis, but applies it more consistently.

I agree, and it does sound intriguing :-)

Except in the case of Voyager, where consistency was thrown out the window and they just invented things to get them out of of invented situations....*sigh*
