FIRST Robotics Competition Answered

Has anyone heard of the FIRST Robotics Competition? It was started by Dean Kamen. Instead of me repeating what their philosophy is, check out their website: FIRST

I'm on the first team from Nebraska, and this was our rookie year. We just finished up our regional competition in Kansas City, MO, and it was a blast. It is one of the only programs that I have found that encourages involvement in science and technology. The build process is almost similar to an engineering internship.

If you happen to be in high school (or not yet there) or you are a professional engineer, electrician, programmer, or hobbyist (basically anyone who uses Instructables!), I strongly encourage you to get involved. Find a team in your area and contact them. There are over 2000 teams in the country, so there may be one near you.

If you are already involved, let me know! I am interested in hearing what people have to say.

How ironic! I didn't see that at all before posting this.

Wow- that is ironic!

Well- yes, I am involved in FIRST, I'm with team 1053, from Ottawa, Ontario.
We are Glebe robotics

I got involved in Grade 9, and now I'm head of the team.

Its been a great experience for me, and given me an outlet for my creativity (apart from instructables!), and also improved my skills in machining, and programming, as well as leadership, and business relationships.

Our team faces lots of challenges, like any other,
but it's a lot of fun!
