Flash 2 LEDs back and forth? Answered

How can I make two LEDs flash back and forth for about a half-second each like shown in the video below? The circuit I'm currently using has a 4017 counter and a 555 timer but I feel like I'm making it too complicated. Anyone have a circuit I could use?

Thanks,
Adam

Depends on what components you have;

What you likely currently have:

you can make a 4017 count to less than 10 by connecting one of the outputs to the reset line, so as soon as that one turns on, it goes back immediately to zero.

If you have the stuff to make a 555 timer and a 4017 talk together; you probably have enough bits to make a

Thanks! I'm going to try out the one with 2 transistors. I'll let you know how it works out!
