What would the future weapons look like? Will they use bullets? Most recent innovations in weaponry?
The future of warfare is not going to be about some new kind of gun. The trend you should be worried about is the expanding role of automation in warfare; i.e. gun-toting robots. What you're going to see a lot of in the next few years is humans being killed by robots, with speed, cunning, and utter ruthlessness. People will wonder how it is that the robots got so smart and so deadly so fast. While the robots themselves will be wondering why it is that humans are so soft, stupid, and easy to kill. Did y'all somehow fail to notice any of the movies, or TV spin-offs, of the Terminator franchise?http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438488/ Did you fail to see or hear any of those stories on the news about the Former US is using robots (aka drones, aka UAVs) to drop bombs on people halfway around the world via remote control?http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/news/pakistan/18-over-700-killed-in-44-drone-strikes-in-2009-am-01 Or what about these comments from the Chairman of the Former U.S. Joint Cheifs of Staff? About how the next JSF is likely to be "the last manned fighter [aircraft]"http://www.motherboard.tv/2010/6/13/will-the-u-s-military-s-new-jet-be-the-last-manned-fighter--2 And I guess somehow you all weren't freaked out by the Big-Dog quadruped, or any of the other Youtube videos from Boston Dynamics.http://www.youtube.com/user/BostonDynamics Yeah. Some kind of new gun. That's it. Something to do with "resonance" or "extraterrestrials". ;-P

rounds made out of uranium. if the bullet doesnt kill you, the cancer will.
Depleted uranium rounds have been used for a while now. They are mostly used in the A-10 Thunderbolt. When fired they spontaneously combust, creating an incinderary round that explodes on impact.
arent exploding rounds illegal in war?
They are illegal for anti-personnel, but just fine for anti armor. They do have a major draw back of radiation poisoning for those who handle it (re-loaders etc..), however I believe if that draw back can be defeated they are the way to roll for conventional weapons.
How can anaything be ILLEGAL in war?
War's about killing. Its hard to believe that people would make rules...New Rule in 2010:"You're only aloud to use 2 atomic bombs per day, it's not fair otherwise."
actually the use of a-bombs, h-bombs, and nukes is illegal in war. this is due to high civilian casualties, large-scale property damage, and long-term effects on the environment (nuclear fallout).
Damn, well then I don't see much of a point in making them, unless they're in the hands of terrorists...
>...They do have a major draw back of radiation poisoning for those who handle it (re-loaders etc..)...lead armour?
the lead would (obviously) be encased in a some type of flexable material to keep from being poisoned (like the led aprons at hospitals used during x-ray scans).
only setbacks: uranium will give the gunman cancer too, and theres a chance of a nuclear explosion when they hit.
No there is bot a chance of nuclear explosion when they hit...
but wouldent the chance make the weapon better?
People will probably end up stealing technology from the extra terrestrial...
which begs the question, was the "Girl with something Extra" an Extra-terrestrial?
I never saw that. If she came from outside Earth, then she probably was.
I was teasing a bit. She (Sally Field) had "telepathic" power to read minds....and tried to keep it from her date. It was a funny show, but I was playing on the word "extra" there (she had something "extra" and she was "terrestrial" :-)
Oh, lol. I guess if you put it that way...
Just pray and your enemies will die.
Yes, resonance can be destructive. Nikola Tesla did some experiments whit resonance and found it to be potencialy destructive. There is a story, true or not, it is very interesting:
Tesla made a resonance pocked-sizes machine. The machine could take down a building. Tesla was afraid but curious and he turned it on and started to adjust the frequency, suddenly the building started to shake, his tools were falling of the shelfs... He understood that the resonance will bring the building to the ground so he took a hammer to his machine. When he looked out the window he saw that other building around his had also been shaken! The police and fire department came, Tesla told his secretary to say nothing. Everybody thought that it was an earthquake but only Tesla and his secretary knew the truth!!!
COOL story? :)
they busted that on mythbusters. although it can cause shaking at the resonant frequency (i proved that part with my scroll saw. evrything okay, add speed. add more speed. at 2/3 full speed, my desk was shaking like crazy. at full speed, the shaking stopped) although it will shake, it wont fall down.
its probably going to be devices that use light and sound. the emphassis will be on non-lethal though
Yes, they were a little scared in the end the the bridge was shaking 50m away.
Tesla was a genius and just may have made something like this, something we don't yet understand.
"What about the millenium bridge, a combination of an unfortunate resonance and people 'marching' as they went across it, lots of people end up in step" MYTHBUSTERS busted that
What about the millenium bridge, a combination of an unfortunate resonance and people 'marching' as they went across it, lots of people end up in step when hindered by those in front caused the bridge to come incredibly close to destroying itself, it would have if people ignored the shaking which turned to full on wiggling....
that needs to be entered in the pocket sized contest
Future Weapons is another show on the discovery channel. I believe it is on Fridays at 9. The show goes around testing the "latest" in weaponry around the globe. It's an alright show, but it does get a little boring the way the host talks.I'd take Mail Call over it any day.
That's because Mack, or whatever, whispers throughout the entire show.
Tesla may have been a genius, but I find the magical properties people tend to assign to some of his inventions extremely unlikely.
I was watching some one movie where the guy used compressed air on this little got that shot out a bolt and then pulled it back in lightning fast. Leaves no bullets or evidence ; )
No Country for Old Men?
yep."some one movie"What did that mean? hm
The device was a captive bolt pistol. Commonly used in cow slaughter. By the way . . . . Did you know you cant spell slaughter with out laughter?
I don't know...I usually don't notice small mistakes like that. I only watched like 30 minutes of that movie, I think that thing though is used to kill cows or something.
A quick google search shows your right. I thought it was neat that he used it to blow the locks out of doors.
future weapons will probably be far better versions of the guns that fire lightning bolts
That gun is the Kriss, it shoots a .45 with a revolutionary bull-pup system that takes away all recoil. Oh and by the way the 7.62 is to big for assualt rifles, there is also a 6.8 with the power of the 7.62 bu accuracy and speed of the 5.56, very effective.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/systems/thel.htmThe US government successfully had their first laser energy weapon that destroy a missile with a 120 pound load. The link above tells about what the thel does.
Most rifles will be pullpups, use a 6.65 catridge, planes will have lasers, and the chuck norris bomb will be the most devastating weapon known to mankind.
I think that all future weapons will use bullpup designs. In 2029, rifles with the mag in front of the trigger will be just as old as muzzle loading guns are now. The 5,56 mm round has no potential. To pierce future bodyarmour you will need at least 7.62 mm or larger. Also, I think that battle rifles have a lot of potential in the US armed forces since they work better with experienced soldiers.
that is the kriss .45 cal smg. it was made as a more powerful smg then the mp5 but with less recoil then a normal .45 cal smg
That picture is from the KRISS. (cool gun)
And i think the army go use the 416 bullet.
Shoot's with a cold barrel 2500 metr accurate.
