Are you going for a Starfleet uniform, or are you dressing up as some alien species? When I was in fifth grade, a friend and I decided to be Starfleet captains for Halloween. We used the TNG-style uniform. Each of us got a complete black sweatsuit, and a red sweatshirt. He and his mom cut the shoulders off of the black sweatshirts and sewed them on top of the red ones, which wasn't a perfect rendition, but still was easily recognizable. A more accurate choice would have been to put red on black for a DS9/VOY look. I've since forgotten what we used for rank pips, but my dad and I made insignias out of thin aluminum sheet and painted Masonite (hardboard). Sufficiently geeky, and I still have it! No, it doesn't fit.

I actually was aiming for a voyager uniform but I think I might just keep it simple and go with TOS even though I'm not a big fan of the original. Your last line made me crack up.

Thanx for the reply kiteman . would you happen to know of any sites with templates?

Sorry, no, but I think that the old version of the Star Fleet Technical Manual (the version published before TNG was ever thought of) had templates of uniforms in it. Try ebay.

The copy published in 1975, I think.
