Help to make 12V Car adapter for motorcycle Answered

I know the parts could be bought for a lot less but just wondering what would be the best way to do this.

I thought bikes were mainly 6 V ?

.  A Q&D search of the Web shows that many modern bikes are 12V. I'll guess so that bikers can use auto accessories without too much trouble.

.  It looks like a standard automotive cigarette lighter receptacle to me. I think that's a fuse holder in the wiring harness. Only thing "special" about it that I see is the fact that it's "marine grade" which I assume means it can put up with moisture a little better than normal units.
.  If you just need the receptacle, you should be able to find them at boating stores. Might even find a "weather-proof" unit at an auto parts store.
