Hi..I am interested in building a vacuum table of the sort used when attaching wood veneer to another type of wood
I understand the priniciples, but don't know what to use for the membrane that lays over the work or how it would be sealed at the perimeter...

If you only need it for one or two uses, look into getting one of those vacuum bags used to store quilts under the bed. THey are usually available at Walmart etc. The will hold quite a vacuum and are going to be much cheaper than building a dedicated table.
