High Detail? Answered

i have 3D that show numbers and letters. They are very small with very little spots and spaces (very small) do you anticipate I will have any issues with demolding with detail that high. I am planning on using release or in this case cooking spray. Many Thanks

Hi FoodDude,

It's very likely that those little characters with little space between them will give you trouble. The problem is that air gets trapped in tight spaces and the mold material isn't viscous (runny) enough to get in there an push the air out.

I always say try it though! The best way to solve the issue of trapped air in cases like yours is to use a small brush and brush a thin layer of the silicone rubber mold material (mix up a tiny batch) onto (and into) the letters and numbers. This gives you the best chance of getting mold material into all the nooks and crannies and force the air out. Then you can go ahead and pour the mold as usual.

What material are you hoping to cast this in? That will also effect the success of the cast. Let me know and I can help you troubleshoot further.
