High temp release for casting glass.? Answered

I cast in glass (1750 F.), I currently use yogurt containers as the mold walls (I am currently limited to casting objects that fit in a cylindar 4" diam. X 3.5"). I usually use pre-made ice cube molds into which I pour 'composi-mold' for the positive to be cast in high temp mold material for the negative. The limit I have is due to casting in my microwave - the kiln uses magnetite agitated by the microwaves to produce heat. My problem is the unpredictability of my release material; sometimes the piece just drops out and sometimes i have to clean the glass piece - any suggestions on high temp releases?

Hi Zaacharia,

I'm afraid this one is out of my experience scope. The google oracle or maybe some glass casting forums will be your best bet for high temp release info. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Happy hunting!
