How Can I Read Data Off of an RFID reader? Answered

I have an RFID reader and a mini - usb convertor for it. . I have the ID-12 reader and the usb board from SparkFun and need to know how I can read data off of the usb board on a PC. I have Hyper-Terminal, but when I plug in the reader to the usb port and open the program, it will not read any of my cards. The reader itself still beeps and blinks with a green led.

From the Sparkfun page, "Open a terminal program of your choice at 9600bps 8N1, then scan your 125kHz ID tag and the unique 32-bit ID will be shown on the screen."

What other details do you need?

No. In this case, it means a program that acts like an old RS232 serial terminal. Windows XP would have HyperTerminal. Windows 7 doesn't have HyperTerminal, but you can download and install PuTTY for free.
