How can I make an adjustable rev limiter for a MSD CD ignition? Answered

I have a MSD HVC cd box and coil. The MSD box uses pills to cut off the ignition if I exceed X amount of RPM's. To change it, I have to pop the hood and change pills. I think the pills are resistors. How can I make this where I can set the rev limiter from inside the car like I do the shift light? Thanks, Scott

I believe they're resistors, you could wire a potentiometer to the box, probably in series with a fixed-value resistor. Get a multimeter to them and see what it says? L

. The pills are probably resistors, but may be capacitors. You should be able to find out using Google or a VOM. . If they are resistors, remote mounting (see thermoelectric's comment) may add enough resistance to affect the setting. Not sure about caps, but I'm guessing the effect would be worse. Neither should be insurmountable.

So you want to be able to change the limit from inside the car? Well, You could connect one pin of all of those "pills" together and the other pins of the pills to a switch so you can select between the pills using a switch...
