I write the address in English. I have a friend I sent a christmas card and two separate gifts (she got the christmas card but not the first gift.) I sent the second gift December 21,2010 and sent it First Class International Registered mail. All of them including the card were addressed in English.

My Dear Friend,

(CONFIDENTIAL TRUST BUSINESS DEAL.)

I knew that this message will come to you as a surprise; I am Grace yaovi, the Manager of Bill and Exchange at the Foreign Remittance Department in Bank of Africa (B.O.A) Rep Of Togo, west Africa .I hope that you will not expose or betray this trust and confident that I am about to impose on you for the mutual benefit of our families.

I need your urgent assistance in transferring the sum of (US $10.6 Million Dollars) to your account within 10 banking working days. This money has been dormant for years in our bank without any body claiming the fund.

I want the bank to release the money to you as the nearest person to our deceased customer, who died along with his entire family on Saturday, 6th December, 2003 in a plane crash.

I don't want the money to go into our bank treasury account as an abandoned fund, so this is the reason why I contacted you so that the bank can release the money to you as the next of kin to the deceased. Please I will like you to keep this proposal as a top secret and delete it if you are not interested.

Upon receipt of your reply, I will give you full details on how the business will be executed and also note that you will have 40% of the above mentioned sum if you agree to handle this business with me, and 60% of the total sum will be for me thereafter.

Now, I look forward expecting to hear from you soonest.

The Ukranian postal system can handle these characters, but for the best answer ask the recipient of your intended mail - they will know. L

i wish the recipient did know....he just gave me the address and didn't know anything else. i think it would be ok once it got to ukraine, but i'm not sure what i need to write in order for the us postal service to understand and get it where it needs to go.

What did he write and is it in Cyrillic? (roughly) L

this is what he gave me..... (first and patronymic name) (last name) чкалова 21б беляевский с. нерубайске Odessa Ukraine is that how i would write it on the envelope? do i add the postal code for odessa after it?

I'd think you'd be OK with that. It'll get to Odessa, large place but surely the addressee has got the top bit right enough for the local post office? L

Ah nuts. As far as the US postal system goes, make sure it's clearly marked "Ukraine" and has one of those overseas airmail stickers on it. You'd hope that once it gets to the right country they'll be able to handle it? L

wait, an overseas airmail sticker?? do i get that at the post office? iFail at using the postal service....

The post office should provide them at no cost (they do over here, 'cos you're paying for the postage anyway) L

The type shows up so small even on my 32" monitor that I have to copy it and paste it in the address bar so I can read it. ON my laptop it looks like a single line only. I wonder if it shows up that way on everybody's computer or just the way I have mine set up.

It's bigger on computers that are closer to me. If you lived in the UK, it would be about an inch tall.

Try this:
"Dear Ukraine,"

Oh, wait...

-=ACHTUNG!=-
It has been known that sending money could result in your letter not being received. It appears that the Ukraine postal system is somewhat corrupt or something...
