I understand the you want to connect MP3 payer to DVD player in Car and want to play music on MP3 player. You must have AUX input/Audio Input for this purpose. You may need a converter cable that will convert 3.5mm stereo jack to AUX. Then you will need to select AUX/Radio in DVD player. It should play now.

Not exactly. Its a stock DVD player that has RCA inputs for using a gaming system or what have you. So I have a 3.5mm stereo jack to RCA cable. The real problem is the DVD player will only allow the RCA input to work if there is video being input into the RCA plugs as well. Is there a simple way to fake a video input maybe.

Hmm. Strange. You can make a fake video input. You need to build a transistor alternator circuit that will power from a 9V battery. It will generate alternating signal. Video has same type of alternating signal.
