How do they sharpen pencils.... in mass? High speed, mass quantity? Answered


I don't think that pencils are sharpened at the factory with a regular pencil sharpener... it would take forever. I want to know how they, pencil makers, sharpen thousands of pencils.

Belt sanders. I've seen it done on one of the "How its made " programmes.

. Learn something new every day. I would have guessed that they used something similar to the spiral cutters in old-style hand-crank sharpeners. Thanks for the link.

The pencils roll along so that all sides are sanded off evenly.
