How do you make instructables download pictures faster for 'ibles? Answered

Its taking  half an eternity to have them download, and I have a fast internet connection. Like many minutes to download 1 image.

I always resize my pictures, if you make them smaller and less pixels it takes only 5 seconds

Exactly, presuming the asker means UPLOAD not download :D

Many digital cameras these days take 10+ megapixel pictures at many megabytes each...a quick resizer program (like the microsoft image resize powertoy, etc) can batch resize pictures for internet upload.

...if you're sending pictures that are a few megs each, your 'fast' internet connection is 99% of the time only fast for downloads, not uploads.  I have 15 megabit download, 500k upload.  Unless you have a fancy fiber connection, there is no other solution than resizing the pictures...ESPECIALLY since the other end will automatically downsize them anyway.  The image resize powertoy I suggested adds it as a right click.  Select pictures, 'resize'.  done.

It's your internet connection, and/or the time of day.

Unless Mr Muggle has guessed you right and you're trying to upload massive uncompressed images at 2-3 Mb each?
Resize to 800x600 or similar and save as JPG.

Like I said, I am almost completely sure it isnt my internet.

Well, I guess I am.

Are you trying to upload huge files to the site, or download regular pictures from the site?
Having a connection that looks good "on paper" doesn't mean that it will actually work that fast for any particular site at any time of day.

You could buy a cheap card reader. then you could do it on your computer and not have to worry about leaving the pics on mr./mrs. whoevers  computer. it would be easier to just copy them to the computer, upload then delete them off. but otherwise the SD idea is the best.

Try putting it somewhere that's easy for the computer to find, like the desktop.

Its off a micro sd, but I dont want to copy it, because its not my computer. My computer doesnt have an sd slot and I am only on it to download those pics to 'ibles, so i can work on it at my own.
