# How to calculate the equivalent resistance of this circuit?

I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO CALCULATE THE TOTAL RESISTANCE OF THIS CIRCUIT ! I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE RED MARKED RESISTOR PLAYS CAN ANY ONE PLEASE EXPLAIN?

In that case, the marked resistor does not contribute to the circuit, and can be omitted, as the voltage on each terminal will always be the same, so no current will flow through it.

@author, imagine it wasn't a parallel circuit, but instead just a single set of 2 resistors in series, now add a 'parallel' resistor that goes between the two resistors - it would be a dead short between the middle resistor's legs...no effect.

The proper way to calculate a bridge circuit is to convert one side from a delta to a Y then it is a simple series parallel circuit.

Bridge circuits are used in test equipment, demodulators, rectifiers, and filters.

That resistor would represent a meter and load in test equipment.

Bypass load in a filter.

Capacitor in a bridge rectifier.

And a load in a demodulator.
