Frankly, I wouldn't bother.  Learn to fly.  If you're in crash mode then you or the pilot should be thing about getting out of crash mode not trying to pop the chute.  This is an easy plane to fly and should not be that easy to get into crash mode.  Also the extra servo and chute will add weight that will slow down the response of the plane and make flights shorter.

But if you gotta do it.  you need to add another servo which takes another channel.  You need a drop box and a chute.  You need the "drop chute" button to kill the motor and open the drop box.  Look at the trainer on towerhobbies.com that has a safety chute for more details.  THis needs to be added in a location so that the center of gravity stays exactly where it is now or the plane will become unstable and may be unflyable!

Well, I can't find it either.  I haven't been looking at R/C stuff for a couple of years so I guess it didn't sell so they dropped it.

It was basically a box that fit under the fuse. between the landing gear with a small servo the opened the lid.  When the lid opened your chute would fall out and start catching air.

The center of gravity should be toward the leading edge of the wing and you need to find that point before you add anything so that when you have added everything that point is still the same.

Here is a link to instructions to finding and checking the center of gravity.
You must use the center of gravity that your plane has now.  CG is unique to each plane and can't be varied much.

Here is a link to a vid. that explains what need to be made, but much smaller.

Google "r/c egg drop", "r/c drop box" etc. to get more ideas.

"THis needs to be added in a location so that the center of gravity stays exactly where it is now or the plane will become unstable and may be unflyable! "

Looking at the photo, I think that means "glue the parachute to the propeller shaft".

I think your first advice is better.

This has a habit of dropping out of the sky and crashing into the ground?
Trying to fit a parachute is going to upset the weight / balance, and isn't something you should need.(?)
