and this is why I post cameras near my machines, because people have nothing better to do than to use their good intelliegnce to plan to steal from others.

I have a whole project put together called the hacking remote, it will be able to send a signal to any IR reciever and work so when this is done i will post a link to the project and i will start making these on a kickstarter remeber they hack (Television, Xbox, Playstation, Vending Machines, Phones with IR or Radio Reciever, and even Remote Control Devices) and i am already thinking of HackRC 2.0 it will have a voice communication for devices that support recieving voice over radio waves and yea its gonna be cool you could even have cameras hacked so it they are wireless you can hack them and the HackRC will have a screen

free as in Stealing! As in theft, as in breaking the law. In Texas this would be Burglary of a Coin operated machine. a FELONY as in go to PRISON. Yeah that's free soda.

yes you can go to jail or you can mess with the machine and make it so you get a good "deal" on them...

Yeah "get a good deal' .... still means stealing, theft, cheating someone out of their goods. You just want some else to pay for you to enjoy something that doesn't belong to you. Lovely world isn't it?

there is trick to opening them there a override but you have power off the machine to use it our if there are more then one machine like snack vending machine pick lock on it and they keep the remote there.

Good luck... It's not enough to have the appropriate remote, but you also need the key programmed into the remote for the particular machine. Unless you have months to aim and test, you're not going to just guess it.

but then, we can make dataloggers! if it's an IR remote, have a mcu save the lengths of the pulses onto a eeprom and read it later, much like that avr LED repeater thingy you can get a free sample 2.4ghz RF module from cypress, but there are 127 channels and a 64 bit privacy code :-( 64 bit means 9223372036854775808 combinations

BUT WHAT IF:
you somehow were strolling by and saw the dealer open the machine and "recorded" the IR signal from his remote and cloned it?

a universal remote? idk if itd work, itd be worth a shot. this thing looked like the key to my aunts new mercedes, looks like a flash drive. so i think a univ. remote might work, id have to get one and try it out.

cool... but we will need one that send out the 9 quintillion codes that it takes to get it open than when it works we (or at least me) would want a way to save that code (for future use...)...

No. Every machine would have it's own channel and privacy code. That means there's a one in 9 Quintilian chance of guessing it.

i agree, this was just ment as something that would maybe get into a soda machine. not like you couldnt get into the older ones, but the new ones are new challenges.
