How to read the value in farad of this capacitor?
Hi,
This is from a 1964 function generator and the capacitor of now "dry".
Its maked as:
-----------------------
SPRAGUE
FILMITE "E"
CAPACITOR
10.0 - 30 DC
127P1069R3S4
MADE IN U.S.A
------------------------
There picture is not THIS ONE, but its pretty close (of the big one)
i would like to now what is the value of my capacitor. (10.0 - 30 DC)
Is it 10mF?
Thanks
A search for "sprague 127P1069R3S4" returns this:
127P1069R3S4 Capacitor, Fixed, Plastic Dielectric Capacitance
Value per Section: 10.000 microfarads single section
Terminal Type and Quantity: 2 uninsulated wire lead
Body Style: 26B W/O mtg facilities, axial terminals
It's a pretty safe bet that the cap is 10uF (microFarads). Older capacitors often abbreviate "micro" as "m" rather than "u".
