Hypnotizing 5 Axis CNC high speed car prototyping Answered

Picture of

Well, i just spent 5 minutes of my life watching a 5 axis CNC machine milling a prototype car out of some foam.

I recommend you do the same.

Right now.

The Machine starts off with a massive block made from some rough shapes of foam. It then proceeds to rough it off into layers, it then adds a more defined smooth layer.

To top it off, it then coats the entire thing in a epoxy layer.

The entire process is both entertaining, and hypnotic.

Would it have killed them to keep the camera still for more than 3 seconds? I found watching that video actually tiring because of the aggressive cuts and constant camera motion. Maybe too much hanging around with film geeks has made me more susceptible to jump cuts and so on, but that could definitely have been filmed better. Still, I watched it all because it's such a cool machine :)

I think in real life, people actually get stuck in its aura, and only actually break free when the machine is finished.

Ok, and now its your fault that there's another expensive machine i want to have... Iff i'm gonna ever win some millions in the lotery, then that thing is a must have (and somebody to clean up the mess..) I think i could spend hours watching such a machine. In fact, i already spended hours (for fun, not as a job) watching a smaller 3axis cnc cutting a wheel for a chopper....

It's probably a very expensive setup but a simple vacuum dust extraction hose would have doubled the overall price.
