I have a sit down electric scooter, looks like your typical cheap japanese version, can i put a lawnmower engine on it? Answered

Japenese sit down electric scooter
Got a running push mower sitting around for the engine donor.
Can it be put on the scooter, didnt know since the shaft is running down.
Didnt wanna use a weed eater motor, those things lock up after a year or so.

It's much harder using a vertical shaft engine. You have to figure out a way to rotate the drive 90 deg. You may be able to do that with a twisted vee belt and pulleys or find a 90 deg. angle gear drive. Then add a clutch etc. and you've got a powered scooter. Don't hurt yourself.

Ill have to look into this twisted vee belt and 90 angle gear drive. Sounds like this idea isnt gonna fly. I also have a AC unit fan motor but i dont think it will work either cause of the current it is setup on

THe a/c fan motor is also alternating current not direct current of the battery.

Clutch is a good point. I presume there's no clutch on the electric, since the motor can be stopped/started/reversed immediately. And certainly only one gear, for similar reasons. So you're going to want at least a clutch, and possibly a full gearbox. I'd also note that if you're planning on running this faster than it ran in the past, you're going to have to think about increased wear.

.  The lawn mower engine will probably put out too much torque and the drivetrain will end up self-destructing.
