I want to buy Halo 3, but I don't have Xbox Live. $60 for a ten hour game? Answered

I'm a huge Halo nerd, and so I really wanna buy Halo 3. I know the Campaign is awesome, because I've played it at my friend's house. The thing is, I don't have high-speed internet, so I can't play on Xbox Live, so I don't know if I wanna pay 60 bucks for a ten hour game, and 2 player split-screen every now and then with my brother, who isn't very good at it, so it's too easy. I can wait a month or two and maybe my friends (they're twin brothers) will let me borrow it from them eventually, but they play it a lot (and they played Halo 2 a lot before that too), so I might/probably not be able to get it from them. Of course, I can rent it too, but if I rent it I'll just want to buy it afterwards. I don't have very much money, I get $50 for my birthday from my grandparents every year, and this year I got lucky and got $60 from my great grandma. So I don't know what to do. I really wanna buy it, I know I'll have a lot of fun with it, but on the other hand, I just don't want to pay 60 bucks for a ten hour game.

No, I know I'll like it, I've played it before, I'm trying to find a cheap copy.

Halo 3 is a good game but it gets very boring. I recommend renting it, you will be able to complete the campaign and thats the best part.

I liked the multiplayer more than the campaign in Halo 2, I'd buy Halo 3 right away if I had Xbox Live. I know in Halo 3 the campaign is very good, but the multiplayer is of course more concentrated awesomeness, and has more longevity.

Well, there is Forge and Theater too, but I don't know if that would be as fun without Live. You've got a major dilemma and I don't trust myself with big decisions, so don't go making any decisions just with my opinion. Try renting COD 4 and see how you like that, or keep playing Halo 3 at your friend's house. Mass Effect has a good single player and no multiplayer, you could try renting that. Also, there is the challenge of finding the skulls, and using them to make the game harder/more fun. Like the grunt birthday party one, in which grunts shot in the head shoot out a cloud of confetti and yell "Yay!"

Personally, I'd choose the option that's cheapest and if I really end up liking the game, I might buy it.

Remember there are 4 different modes, all of which are different in their own way, because the wepons you get easy and the ones you get hard, and the amount of enemies, oh and the amount of snipers! there are loads in the hard modes

If it is a good game, then it is worth it. Odds are you will play it over and over again. If you are worried about price, then try a used copy (if you can find one). Or go to eBay. It's kinda like heavenly sword (this situation, not the game), its a good game, but it's only like eight hours long. But it is worth it.
