I want to make an arduino powered VU meter with 10 LEDs and a electric Mic and arduino code Answered

My goal is to make exactly this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Km6ObG_xKm4 Many Thanks in advance!! I want to include 10 leds and an electric mic, not a switch. Also i'm a noob and can't write arduino code and would like to have the code as well. MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE!


Is there any reason why you want an Arduino circuit to do this? Im just curious because there is an analog circuit that can do this very easily. If you want it, I will find the part number for a Semi that has this capability all in 1 package. I believe its an LM3914 , or 15 I will take the time to look it up for sure If you want it.

Hi RedMeanie, i wanted it to be arduino powered because I am currently working with those in my class and promised to make one with it, it doesn't necessarily need one. I was watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Km6ObG_xKm4 and my proff told me it was very simple and that i needed an arduino for it. Thanks a ton for answering me, I really appreciate it. Also i`m really new at this stuff as well so I don`t even think i bought the right parts

LM 3915 is the logarithmic part. But once you don't want a simple bar graph, or more segments, and some digits, the 3914/5 is very limiting.

Seconded. There are 10 instructables on this concept alone.

Search "led vu meter" and you'll find plenty -- from analog, to digital with shiftbrights.

This will do it too.
Since its arduino based you can do peak holds or whatever very easily.
