Instructables Internship - Day 3 Answered

Hello Again!

So, What did I do today...

During breakfast this morning I wrote up yesterday's log, which was exciting yet depressing... because of the burnt Peanut Butter Sandwich... no, that wasn't the top-secret project, DON'T WORRY!

Other than that...hmm, well, initially, I just made some new "homepage images," then Billy and I attacked the semi-old yet miserably slow laptop that was attached to the "new" laser cutter and cleaned that out. Yeah, we made it run nice and fast =)

After that, NoahW and I went out to Trader Joe's for Salad Club shopping. Yep, today was our day to cool lunch!

Noah brought his mini-barbecue and we bbq'ed steak, chicken, and tofu! YUM! We also prepared a HUGE salad, which I'm not used to, 'cause I've never made salad before. For all of you who don't know how to make salad, basically, you get to kill a bunch of vegetables with a large, sharp, blade... VERY ENTERTAINING!

Unfortunately, I forgot the muffin tin from "home" (Eric and Christy's House), so I wasn't able to bake muffins... there's always next week, though!

After lunch, Jason, Noah, and I went out to home depot to get supplies for the top-secret project... I think I'll call it Proj. X, from now on. Anyway, we got all of the materials that we're going to need for Proj. X except for the surgical tubing V_v... it was just too darned expensive, so we're just going to order it online.

However, tomorrow, we can start building! YAY!

I'm starting to write up a new Instructable on my Hypercube Bubble maker, which should be published relatively soon. I'M EXCITED!

I've also started on a template for the Instructables Badges, hopefully those will be rolling out of the laser cutter relatively soon, too!

Umm... what else? Well, I MIGHT be able to make Cotton Candy Machine (Mark III) here! Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to use any of the heavy machinery (ie. the lathe), so I'll teach Billy how to use it and he could make my parts for me! This, However, depends on how much time I have to spend on projects, and if I'm willing to buy the aluminum (= a lot of $)

Just for any of you who hadn't read my previous posts, I'm having the time of my life here at Instructables, and if you end up producing really nice Instructables, you might get the opportunity to intern, too! Remember, if there's a will, there's a way!

Cheers,
-Muffinator

P.S. I've included a picture of the view from my room. Yeah, I know, I had to make it all artsy... it's the Oakland Skyline at Night. It looks pretty cruddy in the "preview", so take a look at the full-sized image by clicking on the "I" in the upper left hand corner on the picture.

Oh may i ask how is the time ratio of self-motivated projects and instructable duties?and since you menstioned, the material supply, does intern have to pay for every materials?

are there more journals?

Home Depot sells surgical tubing? ...are the badges still from my original suggestion?

How big does it need to big? Does it need to be surgical? I have 25 feet or so of tubing I'm not using...

Hmm... I think he needs a *lot* of tubing, because if he only needed 3 feet or so, he could have spent the 2.50/ft

I'm thinking monster slingshot, mythbusters style.

If it was for elastic it probably wouldn't have to be surgical... I'm thinking it will be carrying air or liquid of some sort for human consumption.

I did, just after posting :$ I forget there's stuff this old that gets bumped to the top of the forums every once in a while. I blame whoever bumped episode 1 and 2 :P

You blame yourself?

Will you please stop rubbing it in?

;-)

It's not my fault i'm not old enough and live in Minnesota! Not that Minnesota isn't awesome :-)

Sheesh, if these are just for motivation, you could have stopped after the first one. Heck, I just needed to see the pictures of the Tower to be motivated!!! I'll just skip his crummy year of school and come work for you guys...I only require your leftover charcoal-butter sandwiches as salary.

HAHAHAHA! I could make some more charcoal-butter sandwiches, but I'm not the one paying you....

Geesh! How many days are you going to get to stay there?!? ;D

You lucky...... dog. And your mom always said muffins wouldn't take you anywhere in life...... pshhh!

Gosh, me so envious. I better start making some good Instructables!

*buys decent camera*
*makes millions of great instructables*

I'm open 'till the 6th!
:P

Well, I'd participate in that Randofol's (Sorry for butchering your name!) death match tournament. Someone could video tape it, then put it on the 'net for all to see... as long as I got to intern... :P

Ha... I'll bet one of those bright lights happens to be that stupid billboard at the base of the bay bridge :p I should really go to bed now o.0

Yeah, I'll have to point it out. They're pretty awful.

Perhaps, I haven't gotten the "privilege" to see those billboards yet....

Trader Joe's is a great place. What could you do with surgical tubing....

There's a ton of stuff to do with surgical tubing! *make a belt *hang laundry *stretchy whip *etc....

Haha, all great suggestions...

But the true question is...

What are you doing with it?
